We are a Democratic Church

The founder Bishop Francis Hodur, established a church that reflected the values and beliefs of the United States and his native Poland, namely a church founded upon democratic principals where the members of the church have a voice and a vote.  The Church depends on the support of its members.  It is only right and proper that its members have a voice and that the Church remain accountable to them for their generosity.

The Constitution of the PNCC calls for its member churches to be democratically established.

Membership entails:

  • Spiritual and material duties towards the Church;
  • A right to vote on parish matters;
  • A right to run for elected office;
  • A right to elect delegates to the General, Diocesan, and Special Synods;

Property:

The property of each church belongs to its members.  This includes all money as well as real and personal property.

Spiritual, Administrative, Managerial, and Social Matters:

The Church believes and has enshrined in its Constitution that the authority of the Church is vested in three branches, the legislative, executive, and judicial.

In matters of Faith, Morals, and discipline, authority rests with the Prime Bishop, Diocesan Bishops, and the Clergy united with them and ultimately from God, through Jesus Christ and based upon the action of the Holy Spirit.

In administrative, managerial, and social, matters the Church derives its authority from the people.  Regular administrative management is vested in the elected Parish Committee.

Parish Meetings and Business:

Parish Committee meetings are held the first Monday of each month.  All members are invited to attend.

Parish meetings are held at least annually.  The Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa Parish holds semi-annual, budget, and annual meetings.  Meeting for other special purposes are held from time-to-time.

Financial and Managerial Accountability:

The Parish Committee acts on behalf of the members of the Church.  Through the use of Monthly Financial Reports at Parish Committee Meetings, Annual Budgets, and Annual Fiscal Reports, the Committee keeps members informed as to the Parish's fiscal condition.  Any expense over a certain amount must be approved by a vote of the members of the Church.
