Marian Devotions - May

O You, whose image is seen in every Polish cottage,
Church, and store, in every sumptuous apartment,
In the hand of the dying, and over the child's crib,
And before whom both night and day shines the eternal light.
You who bear pearls from kings, gold from knights,
In whom even those believe who believe in naught,
Who sees us all with thy beautiful eyes…

O Ty, której obraz widać w każdej polskiej chacie
I w kościele i w sklepiku i w pysznej komnacie,

Mary

The month of May is dedicated to the Blessed Mother of God, Mary.

Throughout the month we seek the intercession of the Mother of God, Mary by holding special liturgies, pious devotions, and other special events.

The month typically begins with the "Crowning of Mary".  Our church holds this ceremony on Mother's Day.  The ceremony, typically part of the Holy Mass, is marked by the placing of a crown of flowers on a statue of the Blessed Virgin.

Throughout the month our church seeks Mary's intercession by holding special devotions on Friday evenings at 7 PM.  These devotions include the recitation of a Litany to Our Lady, Scripture, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and Benediction.

Our parish continuously seeks Our Lady's intercession by holding a Holy Mass dedicated to our Lady each and every Wednesday at 6 PM.

Let this May and the whole year be a great hymn of praise in honor of the Mother of Christ, Mother most sweet, Mother most beautiful.

The month of Mary closes with the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen on May 31.
